Questions
What are the three zones?
Clear: if you leave now you'll make it even if your usual way back fails and you switch to Plan B. Trust: you'll make it only if Plan A actually runs. Closed: by the times you entered, neither path gets you there. Tap any zone in a window to see the arithmetic.
How do I set up a window?
Tap “Plan a window”. Pick the city, the departure time and what you're catching. Then set Plan A and Plan B with the dials: minutes on the way and the longest you might wait. Save — the causeway strip shows your zones straight away.
Do I need a Plan B?
No, but without one there is no insured time: you're relying on Plan A from the first minute. A taxi, a bus or even walking usually works as Plan B.
What does Return Guard do?
It puts a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island with two countdowns: until your insured time ends and until the last call. Tap “Heading back” when you leave and “I'm at the hub” when you arrive.
Does Ebbway know about strikes, delays or my flight?
No. It doesn't track flights or read timetables, and it doesn't promise strike data — there's no reliable free source for that across countries. You enter the times; Ebbway shows how much room a backup gives you when something goes wrong.
Why did my zones move?
Rain forecast for your way back stretches travel times a little, and on public holidays trains and buses often run a Sunday timetable. Each adjustment appears as a chip above the zones, with the minutes it costs. Tap it to switch it off for that window.
Does it work offline? Do I need an account?
No account. The zones and Return Guard work fully offline; only city search and the weather and holiday adjustments need a connection.
How do I turn notifications on or off?
Ebbway asks the first time you start Guard. Change it any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → Ebbway. Guard still works without notifications; the countdown stays on your Lock Screen.
How do I delete my data?
In the app: Settings → Reset all data. Deleting the app removes everything on your iPhone. To delete the push notification record held by OneSignal, email support@ebbway.info with the subject “Delete my data”; we confirm within 30 days. Details are in the privacy policy.
Troubleshooting
Alerts don't arrive
Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Ebbway and allow notifications, including Time Sensitive. Focus modes can hold alerts back: add Ebbway to the allowed apps. Alerts are scheduled when you start Guard, so restart Guard after changing settings.
The countdown isn't on my Lock Screen
Live Activities must be allowed: iOS Settings → Ebbway → Live Activities. iOS ends Live Activities after several hours; Ebbway ends its own 30 minutes after your departure time.
My windows are gone after reinstalling
Windows are stored only on your iPhone and are not backed up to any server, so deleting the app deletes them. An iPhone restore from an encrypted backup may bring them back.
City search or weather doesn't load
Search and forecasts need a connection. Check that Ebbway may use mobile data (iOS Settings → Mobile Data). Your zones still work without them; the adjustment chips will say when data was last checked.
